Analgesia: Introduction

Analgesia: Relieving pain. It is opposite of Algesia which refers pain. Any agent that relieves pain is said to possess analgesic activity.

Any medicine is said to be analgesic when it reduces/ameliorates/relieves/diminishes pain of the sufferer. Many analgesic agents are available in he market belonging to different groups: allopathic analgesics, ayurvedic/herbal analgesics, homoeopathic analgesics. Since they reduce pain, as pain-relievers, theya re all called analgesics.
